I was tired of my batteries taking up table space so I designed this mount. I didn't want to make two separate mounts for vertical and horizontal mounting, so this mount can do both. I designed it with a #10-¾" cap screw in mind (with a head depth of ~ ⅛" [3mm]) , but you could use an M5x20 instead. The shortness of this screw is part of why the normal model, when mounted as I have in my attached photos, needs to be mounted on an edge or lip of a surface, so that the short end of the battery holder has room. If you do not have enough clearance, the retention and clearance is stiff enough that you could similarly mount the battery using the 3 mounting holes at the “bottom” of the model. But in case that's insufficient, I've included a variant which is long enough for the short end to clear. However, this clearance requires a screw longer than ⅞" [23mm], not including depth into the mounting surface.EDIT: I'm adding a V2 that I think is improved in certain ways. I added another pair of mounting points, making it mountable along all three linear axes. The one orientation I wouldn't recommend is upside-down (leaving the battery hanging), without some kind of active tab mating (like the spring-loaded clips at the base of the battery that lock the battery onto tools) I don't feel comfortable relying on the generated moments of the different weights of batteries to hold it in that position. Maybe I'll make an iteration satisfying that need soon. In this moment I'm not sure how to do that without straining the print to delamination, though the right slicer settings might solve that. When testing the original design's fit amongst all my batteries, I realized between the tolerances of legitimate Ryobi batteries and knock-offs, some batteries could have too tight of a fit. So I loosened this by adding small circular strain relief holes along all stress concentration points, extended the u-shaped groove along the flat side of the battery stem, and removed two pairs of retaining projections. This resulted in a satisfying fit among all 6 batteries I own.
