Ryan's 2.5" Micro Ducted Quadcopter Frame
thingiverse
Work in progress! UPDATED Sept 2, 2019! Version 2.0! - Reduced the ducts ID from 65mm to 63.85mm to fit my props, as they all seem to be slightly under 65mm diameter. - Thinned the base plate from 5mm to 3mm to save weight and added holes in the ducts for motor wires (seal with hot glue or silicone). - Made a few minor tweaks to ensure better printing results. (PLA - Scale 100.5% - 3 walls, 16% cubic infill) This is my ducted design for a 2.5 inch pusher style quadcopter. There's no landing gear on the model yet, so landing on the ducts will eventually cause issues... But I'll test its durability first. Intended for 11xx-13xx motors with 9mm spacing (6000kv for 3s), 2.5" props, 20mmx20mm esc/flight controller stack, and vtx either glued or ziptied somewhere or a 20mmx20mm one. I haven't tested anything yet! Should fit most 11xx motors, ducts are now 63.85mm (they're all smaller than 2.5" so may require sanding or trimming your props, or scaling in printer if they shrink). Intended to be printed upside down to minimize support requirements. Ducts have rounded inlets for efficiency - hopefully! I'm not an engineer, but it's my first project with Fusion 360. I've had good luck printing in PLA, with supports touching the buildplate. I scale the model 100.5% to adjust for shrinkage, 3 walls, and 16% cubic infill. It seems stiff enough, but I haven't assembled a flying one yet.
