Rx lens clip for ballistics glasses
thingiverse
I recently purchased some ballistic eye protection from ESS for range shooting, but unfortunately, it didn't fit comfortably with my prescription glasses on. ESS does offer an Rx lens mount option that costs over $30, however, you'll need to take it to an optometrist who will then cut and mount your lenses. After calculating the total cost, I realized it was a significant amount of money just for prescription eye protection. To solve this problem, I designed a part that can attach existing prescription lenses to my ballistic eyewear from the inside. The pictures show ESS ICE glasses with these clips, but keep in mind that they are only compatible with lenses of similar width. However, it shouldn't be too difficult to modify them for your specific needs. The distance between the prongs is 5mm for my prescription lenses, so I recommend using at least 70% infill for durability and strength. Attaching one clip to the bottom outside corner of each lens seems sufficient. If your lenses are very close to your eyes, consider mounting them on the outer side instead. Keep in mind that you risk scratching them this way, but since my lenses were from broken glasses, I didn't have much to lose. You can find Rx lenses online at a relatively low cost, and their shape isn't particularly important for this application.
