RV USB Outlet Fast Charger

RV USB Outlet Fast Charger

The RV factory USB charging outlet fell woefully short in its ability to charge devices within a reasonable time frame. It ultimately failed after only two years of use. The root cause of the problem lay in its excessively shallow design, exacerbated by the standard 2" wall depth found in many recreational vehicles. A replacement charger with model number https://amzn.to/3dy4p7a offered a significant improvement over the original outlet. This fast charger boasts dual 3 amp outlets and an on/off switch to help limit ghost current draw on the vehicle's battery. Due to its increased depth, the cover of this new outlet is thicker and features recessed holes that allow for the reuse of factory screws. A protective cover also shields the electrical connections from accidental contact with the RV's framing or siding. This cover is secured in place using a zip tie. To further enhance the installation, I opted to solder a piece of lamp cord to the back of the new outlet and replaced the short section of small gauge wire.
