RV Shower Door Travel Latch Lock
thingiverse
I have a 2019 Wildwood Forest River travel trailer with sliding bathroom shower doors that I was eager to keep secure while traveling, so I installed a rubber latch to prevent the doors from banging around and potentially breaking or spilling their contents. Unfortunately, after only three months of usage, the rubber that folds over the shower door handle cracked and eventually broke. Luckily, this part is covered under warranty, but it's made of cheap rubber that will likely break again and again until it reaches its inevitable demise. Faced with the prospect of replacing the latch multiple times at a cost of $10 each, I decided to take matters into my own hands and create a more durable solution. After researching and designing a simple model, I came up with a replacement part that is both sturdy and functional. The STL file for this design is available, along with the source 123dx file, so others can modify it as needed. I printed the new latch on an M3D micro, but first had to rotate it at an angle to accommodate its small print bed (a screenshot of which I've attached for reference). It's also essential not to use a skirt or raft when printing this part. In the photos, you'll see that it was printed with clear flexible tough ink, but it also works well with cheap Amazon 5lb spool charcoal grey filament.
