Rusty Huxley
thingiverse
Redesign of Huxley inspired by Prusa simplified Mendel available at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4148. It utilizes PLA Bushings from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4434 and modified SCAD script for 6mm rods and 12mm width. Compatible with 1/4" threaded rods and #6-32 bolts, but can also work with 6mm rods and M6 bolts. X and Y motor brackets designed to accommodate NEMA 14 or 17 motors, while Z axis requires two NEMA 14 motors. Test videos available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rji863B-JnA and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pw6CKZPRubw. Design files in SolidWorks format. Found a problem with X-axis parts, resolved by using undersized hex nuts (McMaster Carr part 90760A007 for 6-32) and adding more material to sides. Assembly instructions available at http://www.reprap.org/wiki/Prusa_Mendel#Assembly. BOM includes printed parts like bar-clamp, belt-clamp, board-clamp, vertex, x-axis-carriage, x-axis-idler, x-axis-motor, y-bushing-holder, y-motor, and z-top-motor. Motor requirements include Nema 14 or 17 for X and Y motors, and Nema 14 for Z motors. Also needs M3 bolts, 6-32 nuts and bolts, 1/4-20 nuts, washers, fender washers, 1/4" bearings, and 1/4" threaded rods. Attachments include aluminum rod pieces for Z drive rods, and a nut drilled out just bigger than the rod for Z spring loaded antibacklash nut contraption.
