Military boots with high boots continued to use the Soviet Army until its end of existence. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced in late 2007 that it would transition from boots to military boots. However, the transition process was delayed due to financial reasons: military boots are more expensive than boots and wear out faster. These boots must be polished regularly. In the army, they were rubbed with cheap shoe polish every day (or even multiple times a day), and the layer of dust mixed with shoe polish gradually increased until the end of service (if the berets did not break). They gained additional protection at that time.
