Kurt Gebauer is a Czech artist and university professor born on August 18, 1941, in Hradec nad Moravicí. He pursued his education at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in Brno from 1955 to 1956, followed by the Secondary School for Stonework and Sculpture in Hořice from 1956 to 1959. Gebauer then attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague under the guidance of professors Vincent Makovsky and Karel Lidický. In 1965, he completed an internship with Professor Otto Herbert Hajek at the State Academy of Art in Stuttgart, Germany. Two years later, in 1967, Gebauer began working as a freelance sculptor. His academic career continued to flourish when he was appointed associate professor at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague in 1990. Gebauer's appointment as Professor of Studio Entire Sculpture followed in 1992. Today, he serves as Professor Emeritus. In addition to his academic pursuits, Gebauer is a member of the free grouping 12/15 Late Than Never and co-founded the Wlastenci - Penclub friends group.
