Runcam Split / TX02 Mount
thingiverse
This is a mount for a Runcam Split Camera and an Eachine TX02 Transmitter. I created it so that I could easily attach (and detach!) it to my Hubsan H501S and H501A quad with minimal fuss. Obviously, it will work just as well on many other quads. If you take a close look at the STL file compared to the pictures, you'll see that I've updated the design to reduce weight slightly and provide more room for the battery while eliminating the need for a separate standoff for the antenna as it's now integrated into the print. The reason behind this project is simple: where I fly has an abundance of trees with very little open space. The Hubsans are designed to look out, not down, so the Runcam allows me to set it (before flight) to look down at any angle I desire and capture both FPV video and HD recording (with excellent WDR!). My setup for the quad consists of a custom 3D printed part that serves as the mounting point. It attaches to the quad using two Reusable Releasable Zip Ties, which takes approximately 30 seconds to secure or detach. I chose to power it from a 350mAh lipo battery since I have a surplus and they provide more than enough juice for a 15-minute flight. Here's my complete setup: 1. Runcam Split 2. Eachine TX02 3. 350mAh battery 4. Custom 3D printed plate 5. Velcro strap to secure the battery 6. Two releasable zip ties 7. Three zip ties to hold the TX02 and antenna in place 8. Four nylon screws and twelve nylon nuts 9. One losi connector to connect the TX02 to the Runcam PCB The added weight of 51g results in a loss of about 25% of my flying time, reducing it from an average of 16 minutes to 12 *plus a few seconds*. However, I gain a significant advantage: being able to fly slowly over any given area and accurately line up shots is fantastic. Additionally, the ability to fly over trees and spot things here and there is incredibly useful. To enhance my flying experience, I set up a 7" monitor (my trusty dusty Boscam 5802) on a tripod in front of me. This way, I get the forward video and telemetry from the transmitter, as well as the view of the area below from the 7" monitor. Alternatively, when flying the 501A from my phone for its excellent waypoint setup, I receive forward video and telemetry from the phone, along with the view of the area below from the 7" monitor. It's a win-win!
