Rugged NUC Wall Mount V2
myminifactory
This updated version of the Rugged NUC Wall Mount tackles existing problems in its predecessor, mainly a deformity that has emerged over the past four months due to creep (see Note 1). Similar to stress simulations I ran using Fusion 360, the front bracket began to droop downward from the bottom rear of the mount. This deformation was caused by heat output from the NUC combined with weight from the computer itself and all connected cables. To combat this issue, the top guide rails have been reinforced with five-millimeter braces; in addition, the depth of the mount has been reduced by three millimeters to provide a snugger fit for the inserted computer. Another change made was removing two rear mount braces as they proved unnecessary since other cross braces performed sufficiently well. Note 1: Creep is the deformation of a solid material from mechanical stresses such as weight, heat, and shear stress.
