Rugby Lineout Grip Block
thingiverse
This design is still in development. Please note that this device may not meet legal standards for rugby play at present. For the safety of other players on the field, I test these units during team practice rather than matches until further notice. In rugby union, a lineout occurs when the ball goes out of bounds as a way to restart play by throwing the ball back in. Ruggers participating in lineouts often tape their legs just above the knees to help lifters get a better grip. Players may use small soft foam blocks or bits of sponge covered in medical and electrical tape. I thought it would be fun to create lifting blocks using flexible filaments that are easier to grip than the cut-up sponges I currently use. Several models have already been uploaded, and I will continue to upload new iterations until I find one that I'm completely satisfied with. Every player is different, so you may find an older version works better for your needs. Again, please remember that this device is not yet approved for match play and may never be. I saw potential in this project and thought it was something worth testing during practice. If you decide to try this out, use a flexible filament like TPU or Ninja-Flex and low infill settings.
