I designed this Diamond/Ruby/Gem model in SolidWorks as a learning exercise and 3D printed it as a single shell, achieving an incredibly satisfying result given the Makerbot Translucent Red PLA filament has been sitting idle on my old Thing-O-Matic for several years now. These models take approximately seven minutes to print each, making them ideal for demonstrating 3D printing technology in a classroom setting.
