This vase is commonly known as a Rubin's vase. It was created by Edgar Rubin, a Danish psychologist, around 1915. The purpose behind this design is to be able to clearly see a face on the profile of the vase. If you decide to make one, please post a picture of it, I'd love to see other people's prints!
