Rubik's Rod - no colors

I designed this challenge for GroznyEntertainment, so I took on the task of creating something sturdier. With a rod down the middle, I used printed symbols instead of color stickers because I was too impatient to wait for Amazon's delivery. I deliberately chose mostly non-alphabet characters as I believe it enhances the magic, but it is configurable. Make sure not to mix up which characters are identical. I faced significant challenges in preventing sticking. In the end, I discovered that the variable "gap" is actually twice the eventual gap between some parts. (In other words, you must set gap to a larger number than you think.) To master this magic trick, practice is necessary as it involves a little bit of sleight of hand. The magic sequence from either end is "O :X#+". Just added V6, which includes rounded corners by request. Note that rounding is done with a Minkowski sum, where speed is very slow to render. If you set the rounding to zero, you get the original sharp edges and it's fast to render.
