Rubberband Direct Extruder MK7 Hobbed Bolt
thingiverse
This extruder drive features a simplistic design, utilizing only essential components while avoiding unnecessary parts. The required items include a NEMA 17 Stepper Motor, a Hobbed Bolt (e.g., Makerbot Stepstruder Mk7 or Mk8), two M3X20 screws, two M3X25 screws, a 608 bearing, and rubber bands. The use of rubber bands ensures ease in assembly and operation while preventing the motor from skipping steps. For the best results, use blue round Theraband strips (2-3mm thick), though black or fewer strips can also be used. This design allows for printing at speeds up to 100 mm/min, but faster speeds remain untested. The 'bottom' file is specifically designed as a replacement for Reprap Mendel Prusa, with sufficient space for most nozzles. Custom nozzle mounts can be created if desired.
