Rubber Band-Powered Flying Bat

Rubber Band-Powered Flying Bat

This object was crafted using Tinkercad at https://www.tinkercad.com/things/cCE45uUnaJx. It's a rubber band-powered flying toy designed to surprise friends when it takes off from a letter, book, card, magazine, or other flat surface. The design also accommodates the 30mm long rubber band and weighs under 1 gram, making it a subgram plane. I created two versions: a flying butterfly and a dragonfly. For more details, see the separate designs for these toys. To build this toy, you'll need the following materials and tools: Rubber bands - 30mm long (flat lay length) and 1.4mm thick Aluminum can (from a soda or beer) Scissors 1.5mm drill bit with hand chuck Small file or sandpaper Super Glue (CA) To get it flying, wind the upper wings 30-40 times. Then, let go - it will soar up into the air! Alternatively, place it in a card, book, or under an object and release it to see it fly out and take flight.
