Rubber Band Intake Wheel
thingiverse
This part was crafted as an alternative to gears and sprockets, designed specifically to hold rubber bands within a robotic system that ingests small items such as wiffle balls. The gear teeth proved too harsh on our elastic bands. In its current configuration, it boasts a 3.5-inch outer diameter, 8 fingers to secure the elastic bands, and a 1/8-inch square drive in the Vex style. Two units are necessary for optimal performance. The Solidworks source file, created with an educational license, is included for users who wish to make modifications. Update: We discovered that a 75mm configuration worked better for our needs. The Solidworks source file now includes hub cutouts for four axle standards: Vex, Rev, Actobotics, and Gobilda.
