Rubber-Band Escapement Test Jig - Maker Block Edition
thingiverse
By requesting fewer, larger teeth on the escapement wheel, Maker Block discovered that parametric design in OpenSCAD offered a suitable solution. With the new, larger teeth, printing should be much easier. To enhance the design, a thicker version of the model was also created to accommodate the pendulum within the build platform. As with the original design, print out the drum, pendulum, and support. Attach the support to a vertical surface and place the drum and pendulum on their respective pegs. Secure a rubber band to the side of the drum, wrapping it around the drum for some potential energy, then attach it to the remaining peg. Push everything against the stops so that the pendulum's escapement pallets mesh with the drum's teeth, and release. Finally, enjoy watching your newly assembled machine in action or prepare to receive criticism if it doesn't work as planned!
