RPI-SFF Workstation from Morninglion Industries - Raspberry Pi Case & Options!
thingiverse
So does anyone remember those HP DC5100 & 7100 SFF computers from the mid-2000s? I loved working on these machines. All snap together, easy to work on and the lid slides forward and off when you press two buttons on the front sides. I'm excited to present to you the #Morninglion Industries RPI-SFF Workstation! That's right, a HP Small Form Factor style case with room for a Pi, a PSU, a USB hub and some other goodies. It uses a 40mm fan on the front to blow cooling air on everything. It's tall enough that Pi hats can be used inside! Included is a set of files for a popular cheap 7" 1024x600 HDMI touchscreen linked below. The Screen PCB Spacers go between the PCB of the screen and back cover of the screen bezel to press the LCD forward into the bezel. #Specs: * The case is 140mm deep by 130mm wide and 60mm tall. * The screen legs are 80mm from the foot to the center of the mounting hole. * The bezel for the aftermarket screen is 180mm wide by 130mm tall and about 19mm thick at the thickest point. It uses 4 x M3x18mm socket head bolts to secure the screen. * The Raspberry Pi Foundation official 7" screen bezel is 200mm wide by 120mm tall. It is 12mm thick around the edges and the cover on the back with the screen totals 19mm thick. It uses 4 x M3x10mm screws to secure the screen. * This fits a Raspberry Pi 2 or newer, or any other SBC with the same footprint. * Inside the case, there is a 75mm x 122mm area for power supply and other things ahead of the Pi. * Next to the RPi is a 40mm x 60mm area for USB and Ethernet wires to plug in. #Things I used: * Screen: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015E8EDYQ * Power Supply: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CK3K37Y * USB Hub: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003M0NURK * Dual Port USB: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FS4UB4M * Single port USB: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012C4EZP2 * Ethernet: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EF000NM * Single Board Computer: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06VSBVQWS Yeah, it's not a Pi, but it's the same exact footprint, so it fits here! By no means do you need these exact parts; I just used them! #I added a version that uses the official Pi 7" screen too. Because it is meant to have internal connections, there's space for Ethernet and single USB on the sides and a dual USB on the front for easy access! #Why no power switch or button cutout? Well, there are so many options; I figured you and I could just drill the hole when we figure out what switch to use! There are files for the lid and screen legs with and without the pegs and holes. For a snap together finish with the monitor secured on top, use the holes and pegs versions! For mounting the legs to the screen, use 2 x M4x20 screws and nuts. I mounted the Pi with 4 x M2x10 screws. #See pictures for usage! #Thank you, like, share, and enjoy! It's printing now...
