The assembly pictures illustrate the step-by-step process. For the electrical setup on the case fans, the Pi 3 boasts a 40-pin GPIO header. I connect a 2-pin Dupont plug to pins 4 and 6 on the Pi, then split it to a 4-pin Dupont header and plug in the fans at this point. This design allows me to swap out fans without rewiring and easily redesign a larger fan shroud if needed. The splitter is wrapped in heat shrink and secured with zip ties, bending the wiring to fit snugly within the case - it works flawlessly and makes storing the fan shroud a breeze when not in use.
