RPG Dice Box & Tray
thingiverse
I'd rather create a custom dice box / tray from scratch, but it's definitely easier for me to find or purchase one online. I decided to take on this project as a way to hone my crafting skills, specifically with 3D printing in mind. My goal was to design a simple and functional dice box that wouldn't distract from the actual gaming experience. I wanted it to serve as an efficient carrying case for all my gaming essentials like dice, miniatures, writing tools, erasers, and more. What really drove me to create this project, though, is the frustration of chasing after scattered dice rolling off the table during gameplay. To address this issue, I incorporated a fabric bottom into the design of the dice tray. Since 3D printing allows for precise control over materials, I could hear the subtle rattling sound of the dice as they rolled around inside. To conceal any minor inaccuracies in my scissor cuts, I added a small decorative trim to the edges of the box. Once all the pieces are printed and assembled, I'll update with pictures of the finished lid and final paint job.
