RPG Dice and Miniature Case with Rolling Tray
thingiverse
This experiment aimed to develop hinges and clearances that meet specific requirements. A hinged case for RPG dice was created, designed around GameScience dice with a focus on the d3 Zocchi due to its longest dimension. The pen/pencil area can accommodate a Pentel P205 without clip, a Kuru Togo Roulette pencil, or a common Bic mechanical pencil. The design allows for holding up to three 28mm scale miniatures in addition to 15 dice and one writing instrument. Three magnet sets consisting of six 5mm diameter x 4mm deep magnets are included. The hinge pin is made from two stainless steel pieces with a 3mm diameter and approximately 49mm length. The case pictured was created using silky PLA, which caused inconsistent finish issues. This led to multiple failed prints, but adjusting print settings and post-printing procedures would likely resolve these problems. Using normal PLA+ instead might have avoided these issues altogether, but it did facilitate the discovery of suggested print recommendations below.
