Swans constitute a group of large waterfowl birds within the family Anatidae and genus Cygnus.[4] These majestic creatures stand out as the closest relatives of geese and ducks. Swans are indeed closely aligned with geese, forming a common lineage in the subfamily Anserinae. In certain instances, they may be classified as their own distinct subgroup, namely the Cygninae. Within this framework, swan diversity manifests itself through seven known living species, together with one extinct variety within the Cygnus genus. The Coscoroba swan, however, has undergone classification reevaluation and no longer is regarded as an authentic member of this lineage. This photograph showcases a Mute Swan - a breed of white swan - adorned with a black stripe on its face, visually distinct from other breeds of waterfowl. It exhibits characteristics typical of white swans that differentiate it from its close relatives in terms of appearance.
