The Roving Lunar Sampling System (RLSS) is a screw-driven lunar sampler vehicle design, with one drive screw collecting regolith. Two rotary motors independently rotate these screws for versatile movement and zero-degree turns on the moon's surface. The dual-helix drive screw collects regolith, adjustable by a linear motor to control the gap between helixes. Fine regolith falls first in this gap, allowing layered sample deposition. A robotic arm from the lander deploys, positions the rover over storage for dumping. The system weighs 470 grams, includes all shown parts plus a 2-meter tether (not pictured). Max power usage is 15W; materials are aluminum, Teflon, titanium, and stainless steel. More details in Readme-RLSS.pdf by Aurelian Z. & Diana P.
