Rover wheel, floating pad
pinshape
Floating pad design for loose sandy terrain. First design was to use Tread plate A & B alternate. Using bungee cord through every other pad loop. But as in first print. I use only Tread Plate A. Bungee cord through every pad loop in order. Bungee cord used currently is 5 mm (3/16" ). Alum. Tubing is aircraft 6061 T6 3/8". Thickness will have to be determined by weight of Rover. Tread plate holes/ pins are 1/8". Rod End holes are 3/16". Axle/ Spindle has 1/2" axle hole. Also Spindle has 1/8" holes for locking in spoke tubes. Can use Tread plates A in one wheel. Tread plates B in the other side. Alum. Tubing in test wheel was 4- 3/8" in length. That is the minimum length. Most certainly could have been a touch longer. Current wheel size is : ( w/ 4-3/8" tubes) = About 12-1/2". Future fixes will be longer spoke tubes. Making mold for vulcanizing rubberized tread pad. Print Parts count per. wheel: Spindle = 1 , Spoke tubes = 27 , Rod Ends = 27 , Action brackets = 54 , Tread plates = 18 Recommend : Using thin washers between action parts. Also if planning on using screws. Use fiber self lock nuts. Thanks for Looking!
