Rover Tracks v2

Rover Tracks v2

This is the second version of my Rover Tracks design. Many small issues were addressed following the recommendations of people who built the first version. Thank you for your input! The main goal of this project is to create tracks that can be easily attached to any rover design. As shown in the video, these tracks are surprisingly powerful given their simplicity, with only one super cheap motor per track. I put them through various terrain types and they handled everything with ease! Check below for a list of parts you'll need to print and buy, along with more details on the build process. You can download the source code from GitHub here. I'd love to see your finished project! Track Assembly To test the tracks, I created a base that connects both tracks together and has holes for a Raspberry Pi. The Pi is controlled by a generic Bluetooth gamepad like this one. To power the Raspberry Pi, I used a DC-DC step down converter and soldered its output to the RPi's USB power connector (since there was no room for a real USB port). Follow this video to see how to assemble each track of your robot. To Print For each side (you'll need two sides per rover), you'll need: * 1 MotorMount_A_v2.stl * 1 MotorMount_B_v2.stl * 2 WheelDrive_v2.stl * 2 WheelSlave_v2.stl * 1 Enclosure_A_v1.stl (replaces the original) * 22 Track_v1.stl To connect both sides, you'll need: * 1 plate.stl To Buy If you just want to make the tracks: * 2 Generic DC Geared Motor If you want to build a rover like the one shown in the pictures: * 1 Raspberry Pi 3 * 1 Bluetooth Gamepad * 1 2s battery (any type will do) * 1 DC-DC Step Down module * 1 Mini slide switch * 1 Adafruit Motor Hat I invested a lot of time designing this project. If you like it and want to show your appreciation, consider giving me a tip to help me continue creating amazing projects!
