Rover platform

Rover platform

thingiverse

This is a modular rover platform that you can assemble by choosing from many interchangeable blocks that fit perfectly into the same mounting points. This allows you to adapt the design to suit your needs precisely. You can find the main project page, complete with an index of related links and articles, at savagemakers.com/portfolio/3d-printable-rover. I have designed this platform in Sketchup to be as symmetrical as possible, making it easy to reuse many parts in different locations. For instance, the front and back shells share the same mounting points, enabling you to print the Shell - RPi Camera for the front and the Shell - Blank for the back unless you want a camera on the back too. Alternatively, you could print the Shell - Switch for the back to control the power source of your rover. Your imagination is the only limit when it comes to customizing this platform. The files for this project will be uploaded, allowing you to design custom blocks yourself if you wish. In a video available at youtu.be/DBhW78IU3l8, you can see in detail how to mount a track frame (one side of the robot). If you encounter any issues with the parts or would like me to create a specific block for any hardware you think could be useful, please let me know. Files Description: InnerTrackFrame - DCMotor v0.3.stl: This is the block that holds DC motors, specifically this type: savagemakers.com/yellowdcgearmotor. You will need 4 of these blocks. CenterTrackFrame v0.3.stl: This block connects two InnerTrackFrames together. You will need 2 of these blocks. OuterTrackFrame v0.3.stl: This block locks into the CenterTrackFrame and covers a wheel. You will need 4 of these blocks. Shell - Blank v0.2.stl: This block locks into the InnerTrackFrames and is the front and/or back of the rover. You will need 2 Shell blocks of any type. Shell - Switch v0.1.stl: This block locks into the InnerTrackFrames and is the front and/or back of the rover. It is designed to host this kind of switch: savagemakers.com/latchingtoggleswitch, to control the power of your rover. You will need 2 Shell blocks of any type. Shell - RPi Camera v0.3.stl: This block locks into the InnerTrackFrames and is the front and/or back of the rover. It is designed to host a Raspberry pi camera module: savagemakers.com/rpicamera You will need 2 Shell blocks of any type. Shell - RPi Camera Support v0.3.stl: This block locks inside the Shell - RPi Camera. You only need it if you are also printing the Shell - RPi Camera. Track v0.1.stl: This is one link of the track chain. You will need to print 27 per side (54 in total). Cog - Drive v0.1.stl: This block moves the track. You will need 4 of these blocks. Spindle - DC Motor v0.3.stl: This block links a motor to its Cog. You will need one per each InnerTrackFrame - DCMotor you have (so 4 in total).
