I'm happy to share what my students have designed and built - an underwater mount specifically created for our Remotely Operated Vehicle called the Seagle. This mount has been tailored to fit a Turnigy D2836/11 750KV outrunner motor, making it an ideal combination for our subsea endeavors. One of the innovative features of this mount is its rounded shape, carefully designed to optimize water flow around the end of the motor and ensure maximum efficiency of the propellers below. A huge thank you goes out to Dollar Bay SOAR, whose pioneering ideas have helped inspire and get us off the ground - no pun intended! They generously shared their OpenSCAD propeller design, which we've expanded upon for this particular application. If you're looking to bring this underwater mount to life, here are the printing guidelines: It's been successfully printed on our trusty Deltabot printer at a layer height of 0.1, complete with supports. For best results during printing, ensure that the mount is positioned in such a way that its prop shield (the largest diameter circle) lies flat on the build plate. This setup ensures that every detail of your mount turns out as it should!
