The bilge pump thruster represents a convenient way to install a bilge pump on a 1/2" PVC frame. The quill mounting system easily fits into a fitting or a 1/2" tube. Scad files are now included for easy editing according to individual needs. Two and three-bladed propellers available on Thingiverse can be used with the cowling and propeller offering around 2mm of clearance. The credit for this scad code writing goes to HARLANDMII who developed the write.scad program. This can be found at thingiverse.com/thing:16193. Instructions: We print using support from the end where the mount is located on the motor. In previous versions, prints came out from pillars and required minimal or no support for printing, however, we found this resulted in a lower volume of water reaching the propeller when printed this way. The mount remains attached to the motor with a 10-24 x 1" bolt and lock nut. Meanwhile, the quill is held together using an 8-32 x 1 1/4" bolt and lock nut placed at the base of the quill. There are two possible methods for mounting this bilge pump thruster: You can either directly mount it into a 1/2 PVC fitting or attach a 1/2 tube to your fitting and then use one of the available wedges. We have found that attaching using the tube wedges provides a significantly better holding power. This particular model employs a Johnson Cartridge Bilge Pump rated at 500 gallons per hour, specifically the model 2855.
