Router Shelf Pin Jig (Customizable)

thingiverse

This is a versatile jig for drilling rows of pin holes with a router, ideal for crafting shelves and boards. Utilizing a router enables users to drill precise and identical holes with ease. The default design accommodates routers equipped with 17mm copy rings, but the customizer allows for alternative ring diameters. The standard settings for this jig are 32mm hole-hole distance and 37mm hole-fence distance, which is commonly used for cup hinges. This design makes it easy to create consistent results. When printing the jig, users have the option of including or excluding support fingers, which can prevent tilting the router during use. To extend the length of the jig without shifting it, multiple prints can be connected using 2x M4 threading rods and 4x M4 nuts. The last holes on each jig are designed to maintain a consistent hole-hole distance when joined together. The provided files also include a pin holder/adapter that fits snugly into 17mm holes, allowing users to shift and align the jig after drilling a sequence of pin holes. My i3 Mega printer produces inner diameter cut-outs with an excessively tight fit, which is compensated for by adjusting the "cutout_adjust" model parameter. To achieve a secure fit for the copy ring, adjust this parameter according to your printer's precision level. Happy routing!
