Router Shelf Pin Jig (Customizable)
cults3d
This is a jigsaw for drilling rows of pin holes with a router, specifically designed for shelves and boards. By utilizing a router, you can drill precise and identical holes with ease. The default design accommodates routers equipped with 17mm copy rings; however, the parametric design can be customized to suit various dimensions. To access this feature, simply unpack the .scad file and open it in OpenSCAD. The default settings for the jigsaw are 32mm hole-hole distance and 37mm hole-fence distance, which is also commonly used for cup hinges. The jigsaw can be printed with or without support fingers to prevent tilting the router during use. If you print multiple copies of the jigsaw, you can connect them to create a longer jigsaw, eliminating the need to shift the jig between each use. The last holes on each jigsaw are spaced 1/2 hole-hole distance from the edge, ensuring that when two jigs are connected, the correct hole-hole distance is maintained. To connect two jigs, use two M4 threading rods approximately 70mm long and four M4 nuts. The included files also feature a pin holder/adapter that fits into 17mm holes, allowing you to shift and align the jig after drilling a sequence of pin holes. Additionally, if your i3 Mega printer produces inner diameter cut-outs that are 0.4mm too tight, the cutout_adjust model parameter can be adjusted accordingly to compensate for this issue. To achieve a tight fit for the copy ring, adjust the cutout_adjust parameter based on the precision of your printer. Happy routing! Updates: - [2019-03-05] An optional flat version without side fence is now available. - [2019-02-20] Two additional drillings have been added to the fence for attaching wooden or printed spacer elements. This allows you to reduce the hole-to-edge distance and gain design flexibility after printing the jig. - [2019-02-20] A space has been reserved next to the fence for a connector nut.
