OpenSCAD Program Creates Stamp with Ink and Quarter Turn Rolling Motion. The OpenSCAD program jStampRound.scad makes a stamp that prints text on paper or other media each time it's inked and applied. Download the program(*) and run it using a reasonably recent(**) version of OpenSCAD. Customizing the Text ------------------- The first customizer field sets the text that appears on the stamp. Other fields control the text size, length of the stamp surface, handle height, thickness, and end-radius. Large Cylinder Radius Recommended --------------------------------- Note that this program uses linear projection to map text onto a cylinder. This works well if the text width is small compared to the cylinder radius. However, if the text width exceeds half the cylinder circumference, some letters may be lost at each end of the text. For best results, use a large value for the cylinder radius. No 3D Supports Needed ---------------------- This item prints handle-down, resting on a flat below a cylinder. The triangular prism connecting the print head and handle eliminates the need for supports during printing. (*) I've yet to figure out how to run this in Thingiverse's Customizer. (**) OpenSCAD versions older than 2015 don't support the Customizer panel; if your OpenSCAD is too old, you'll need to edit the program code to make changes, instead of just changing settings in the Customizer panel. Note that the parameter `renderFirst` is set to 1 by default (Thingiverse Customizer apparently doesn't take `true`) which causes a noticeable delay after parameter values are changed. However, it ensures an acceptable view appears. You can clear or uncheck `renderFirst` if you want to control this yourself, by pressing F6 to render and F7 to produce .stl for 3D printing after making custom changes.
