This joke-inspired project involved creating a round tuit sculpture using ArtCam software, intended for casting in brass, mounting on a plaque, and gifting as a Christmas present. The plaque reads, "THIS IS A ROUND TUIT! Guard it with your life." It humorously advises that round tuits are rare, helping one become more efficient. The 3D printed sculpture was made using a Makerbot Replicator and PLA at 235°C. Afterwards, a wax dip technique was employed to create a watertight mold. Plaster of Paris mixed with sand was poured into a container surrounding the print, which hardened overnight. The next day, it was heated in a wood stove for four hours to burn out the wax, leaving a mold cavity. To complete the process, molten metal can be poured into the hole, allowing the creation of a brass sculpture resembling the original 3D printed item.
