Round Door Handle No hands Lever
thingiverse
My house boasts an unusual feature - Spherical door handles that defy conventional operation without hands. Seeking a solution, I discovered numerous designs for lever door handles but found none suitable for the spherical type commonly found in homes. To overcome this challenge, I designed a custom solution involving two printable parts: The Door Handle Extension wraps around the door knob and is depicted as blue in the photos, while the Door Handle Accessory, or "Flap" part, is shown in red. After testing these designs on door handles from two different brands - Defiant with a 54mm diameter and Schlage with a 51mm diameter - I realized that scaling might be necessary to accommodate varying sizes. Fortunately, this design appears to work for me, offering the flexibility to create customized "Accessory" flap parts. A crucial detail is that these extensions can slip if not secured properly. To prevent this, I added a rubber band beneath the 3D printed part, which may require replication in your own project. To assemble and secure the extensions, you'll need M4 bolts: one 20mm bolt, two 8mm bolts (which will be threaded directly into the Extension's holes), and an M4 nut. Since I initially used screw size instead of bolt size, please note that M4 refers to the bolts used in this design. In a subsequent update, I added three more sizes to accommodate users who prefer to add elastic bands or other grip materials. These new sizes are 51mm, 52mm, 53mm, 54mm, and 55mm, allowing for a more tailored fit to your specific door handle diameter. If you require an extension in a different size, feel free to let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate your request.
