Round case for Atmel DB101 prototype board

thingiverse

This round case is designed specifically for Atmel DB101 prototype board, providing protection while maintaining an aesthetically pleasing appearance. The case can be easily mounted on the dashboard of electric vehicles like cars or motorcycles. The software version currently displays messages from CAN-bus in a simple graphical form. To ensure safety, this case has rounded corners with at least 3 mm radius, similar to other mounted devices on the dashboard. The DB101 board fits snugly into the case and is held in place by foam between the back of the case and the electronics. The lens is made from clear polycarbonate. The mounting part has a narrow point that can bend or crack during impact to absorb shock. It can be adjusted at an angle for various vehicle types. The design was tested on different vehicles, making it a versatile solution. Interested individuals can find more information about previous versions and the design process on the project page at http://yty.net/c/Random_EV_does_Cagiva/INSTRUMENTS.html. Additionally, there is a link to an software-repository for the software part of this project. The original design files are in Alibre format. A related video showcasing the first version of this prototype casing mounted on an electric motorcycle can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7SJQmAKvDk. To assemble, print one part of the case (back and mounting), cut a 96mm clear polycarbonate circle for the lens, insert the DB101 board into the case with minor adjustments if needed, add foam between the case back and prototype-board for secure fit, drill necessary holes for power cables in the back-plate, assemble back and case together using 4mm bolts, test fit on dashboard, and finally mount to the car with suitable screws. Feel free to share photographs of your assembled case for others to see!
