Round adapter for micro USB panel mount
thingiverse
I find drilling a round hole into any material to be much simpler than drilling specific mounting holes and the precise hole for a connector. This adapter is designed to fit a low-cost micro USB breakout board and one LED in a circular shape that can easily be installed on a panel or side of a box. Although it's slightly bulky, it gets the job done. I plan to create a more compact version once I get smaller micro USB or USB-C connector boards. A 3mm LED is a snug fit, but I'll use some glue to secure the PCB in place. The cutout allows access to the pads of the PCB in case the cable needs to be replaced; however, it's best to solder them before inserting the PCB into the adapter. The included M20 nut was generated by FreeCAD's Fasteners module with no customization applied. This is a learning design for me, and I welcome hints and suggestions.
