
Roughing Linn (April 2009) NE

Roughting Linn, situated near Ford in Northumberland, boasts an extensive carved outcrop measuring 21m x 15m x 3.5m in size and shaped like a large dome. The notable archaeologist Canon William Greenwell first identified this site in the mid-19th century, and it has since become one of England's most visited rock art locations. Motifs on display include cups, rings, penannular designs, and grooves primarily featured on the upper and east-facing surfaces. This particular section highlights the carvings located at the NE end.
