The original design didn't translate well to OpenSCAD. Whenever trying to apply difference or intersection operations, the resulting STL ended up being the full object with no removed features. A resolution was found using MeshLabs and its Filters / Cleaning and Repairing toolset, specifically by applying Remove T-Vertices by Edge Flip. With this adjustment, rendering successfully proceeds with F6.
