As a Commercial Helicopter Pilot, Mechanical Engineering Technologist, and Mechanical Designer, I have gained extensive experience in designing and constructing ancillary helicopter equipment. The current era of homebuilt aircraft fascinates me, as cutting-edge technology is often showcased in these projects, outshining many certified aircraft. One of my recent designs is a fully articulated rotor head for the Rotorway Jet Exec airframe, featuring hydraulic dampening, flap balancing, and lead lag dampening. This streamlined design minimizes parts count and can be efficiently produced on a multi-axis CNC machine. The project was collaborative with a Professional Engineer and Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. We are open to making this design open source and would welcome testing by Rotorway enthusiasts, offering our support for the project.
