The RAP engine patent (RU No 2044893, Cl 6 F01C 3/02, F04C 3/02, priority 06/11/92) offers improved internal combustion engines by converting fuel combustion heat directly to rotary output shaft motion. It uses balanced rotors as working bodies, allowing increased rotor speed or reduced size and weight without sacrificing power. The rotors' perpendicular axes interact only via radial surfaces, enabling variable working volume for various devices, including engines of both external and internal combustion types. Key features of the new rotary-piston engine include rotational motion of symmetrical, balanced working bodies without counterweights; absence of a valve mechanism; high permissible working body rotation speed; structural lightness with variable compression ratio; constant volume fuel mixture combustion; versatile rotor arrangement options; utilization of composite materials due to lack of impact loads from reciprocating motion; adjustable compression ratio for reduced exhaust system pressure and lower average thermodynamic cycle temperature; application of mathematical modeling methods; four-stroke mode; high liter and power densities; and easy engine start.
