The Fairey Rotodyne was a British compound gyroplane built by Fairey Aviation in the 1950s. This innovative aircraft was developed from the Gyrodyne, which had set a world helicopter speed record earlier on. A key feature of the Rotodyne is its tip-jet-powered rotor, fueled by a combination of fuel and compressed air drawn from two turboprop engines mounted on its wings, specifically the Napier Eland model.
