This is a custom-built chemical reaction separator intended to selectively separate two materials using a precision-engineered actuating rod from one side. The "Outer.stl" component remains stationary while the "Inner.stl" component, featuring an intricate thread-interfaced surface, opens and closes the aperture with ease. Originally designed as a solution for separating effervescent tablets and water in a CO2 water rocket, this innovative device employs a clever mechanism to drive the separation process. As the actuating rod interacts with the "inner" plate, its rotation activates the flow holes, allowing water to flow through the surrounding stators into a second chamber. In this chamber, the effervescent tablets react with the incoming water, generating CO2 gas. The entire process is subject to refinement as further work is ongoing to optimize performance. The interfacing rod, machined from an aluminum extrusion readily available at most hardware stores, features a unique +shaped cutout that provides a secure grip for the actuating rod. This custom part was designed in collaboration with makers and engineers who value precision and functionality. All other components were carefully tested using a FDM printer on PLA, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
