Rotating R8 Collet Rack
thingiverse
Rotating Collet Rack for R8 collets holds eight collets, featuring an innovative design that sets it apart from other systems. Two bearings are required to complete this assembly, along with a bolt, nut, and washer, which work together seamlessly. This rotating collet rack is similar to the Little Machine Shop's Part Number 5001 but has one notable difference: it holds only eight collets, making it a more versatile option for users who need this specific capacity. To see this system in action, watch the video at https://youtu.be/aCxWUNvItQw, which showcases its functionality and ease of use. As of November 2, 2017, an eleven-position holder was added to this design, requiring only one bearing to function properly. You can view a demonstration of this updated system at https://youtu.be/VnkOA6mjVqs. **Print Settings** * Printer Brand: SeeMeCNC * Printer: Rostock MAX * Rafts: Doesn't Matter * Supports: Yes * Resolution: .3mm * Infill: 60% **Notes** The rotating collet rack was printed using PLA with a 60% infill, resulting in a sturdy design that can withstand regular use. To achieve optimal results, it is recommended to print the bearing holders and mounting screws with support enabled. Post-printing modifications are required to ensure smooth operation. Start by reaming out the axle hole with an undersized 1/4" reamer or drill bit to create a precise fit for the bearings. The system requires two bearings, each measuring 3/4" in outer diameter, 1/4" in inner diameter, and 5/16" in height. One bolt is necessary for assembly, preferably a 2" long 1/4" socket head cap screw. A washer should be placed between the printed pieces, while a nut secures the top part of the system together. If the bolt head interferes with the bearings, an additional washer and longer bolt may be required to prevent interference. To ensure the nut remains in place, apply some loctite before assembly. On November 2, 2017, an eleven-position rack was printed using ABS, resulting in a smoother spinning action compared to previous versions. This updated design eliminates the need for a washer between the top and bottom pieces, instead using one between the bottom piece and the nut.
