Rotating Prusa Death Star Topper

After months of rigorous testing, I'm thrilled to unveil the Rotating Death Star. To bring this design to life, you'll need to print three essential components: the Hex Base, Z-Gear, and the Death Star Gear. The blank version is specifically designed for remixes (more on that below). I've been warned about potential layer shifts during printing, but after 30 hours of continuous testing, nothing disastrous has occurred. In fact, this setup may even have mitigated my printer's Z-wobble issues slightly. There's ample clearance between the Z-gear and its housing, and the overall design won't overload your stepper motor (no risk of overheating or other problems). I'd be forever grateful if you shared a photo of your completed project in the "I Made One" thread – it would really make my day! Future versions are already in the pipeline, including a radar dish and gun turret. Feel free to suggest ideas in the comments. To Assemble: Print the three specified files (for a snug fit on the hex base, use a brim and trim it off; the excess material will ensure a secure connection). Highly recommend applying a few drops of oil between the Hex Base and Death Star gear – most lubricants will work, or even cooking oil in an emergency. Attach the Hex Base and Death Star together (be prepared for some force, depending on your printer's specifications). Install the assembled pieces onto your printer, then place the Z-gear onto the 8mm threaded rod. For extra grip, insert a tiny amount of blue tack between the rod and the Z-gear – the design intentionally allows for easy detachment in case of gear jamming. Attach the Z-gear to the rod, and you'll have an incredibly cool printer! Update: Four months after initial deployment, zero problems have been encountered. To Remix: Cut a 10mm diameter, 8mm deep hole in your desired spinning component (the part that replaces the Death Star). Combine this with the "Body Gear (Blank)" using software like MeshMixer. Print the remaining two components and don't forget to mark it as a remix so I can see your handiwork!
