Rotating BB8 Droid And BB8 Key Fob

Star Wars enthusiasts will love this exciting three-dimensional print of a BB-8 style droid. It prints flat, so not a ball but (on an accurate well-calibrated 3D printer) the center section rotates freely from the outside/head. This is a small and easy-to-print design that requires pausing your machine twice during printing to change filament colors. With a 1mm thick Raft, switch filament color at 2mm (29%) and 7mm (86%) through printing. Following this simple process should result in a fun print... the color transition point is critical to the outcome. May the force be with you! Two options have been provided. One is a "Just for Fun" print as an example of how linked moving parts can be built into a single print. The Key Fob version has a slightly different top with a hole for attaching a key ring. At standard scale, the total diameter of the design is 35mm. Scale it up uniformly if you want to make it slightly larger (if you have clearance or sticking issues preventing it from rotating freely) but not down as that will reduce fine clearances. Due to the fine clearances used in this design, the rotating center may need to be gently broken away to achieve free rotation. Printed on an accurate 3D printer, this should be relatively easy to accomplish by running a fingernail around the grooves (refer to images). Please refer to images and instructions for additional information. Two-Color Files: At the request of several Thingiverse members, two files have been added for multi-color machine users. Part "A" is for the bottom and top sections (white). Part B is for the center section (orange). There are versions available for a key fob and one just for the BB-8 model.
