After two attempts with auger based feeders where kibble would just get jammed, I realised i needed to take a different approach. When i saw the ‘Automatic Pet Feeder With Simple Encoder’, made by krizzli, i knew this would be the way to go to feed our bunnies! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2400261 Somehow i cant post this as a remix from his design I just love the principles in his design, but i wanted the electronics, wires, servo and LED tunnel in a bottom housing instead of the way he mounted these parts. So i started from scratch and engineered it in Fusion 360. I also re-used the electronics i already had from the auger version. I use an 0.96’’ Oled display for displaying the information (Temperature, humidity, remaing time and amount of kibbles given). I created two versions of the top housing: - With hooks so you can hang it - Without hooks but with a stand The parts you will need: Arduino Nano Pushbutton LDR + 10k ohm resistor LED + 220 ohm resistor 0.96 inch I2C 128x64 OLED SSD1309 display MG996R CONTINUOUS servo with servo disc DHT22 Sensor The following bolts are also needed: Housing bolts M4x50 4pcs Hex round head 5mm high Servo mount M3x16 4pcs Servo gear M3x16 1pc Lid M4x16 2pcs You will need to thread a few holes, preferred by HAND!! Be sure to feed your USB in the housing before hooking it up to the circuit. I used a 2-pin terminal for that. The LED and LDR are glued in place in the bottom of the top housing with a standard hot-glue gun. I used two connector sets, bacause i had these lying around The holders for the DHT22, OLED and button are glued with Hard-PVC glue (which i always use with 3d-printed parts) Follow this page if you have a non-continuous servo : https://www.instructables.com/How-to-hack-a-servo-for-continuous-rotation-Towe/ The gear is alo glued to the round servo disc. It does not matter how you place the black supply blades in the housing. When powered up, it will always do a homing cycle. Be sure to tweak the settings in the arduino code to fit your needs! After filling the supply, the lid will snap into place when closed. Happy printing and post your makes! And off course feel free to buy me a beer if you like my design!
