Introducing an upgraded marshmallow roasting stick, featuring a gear system for even browning and capable of roasting three marshmallows simultaneously. The replaceable bamboo skewers at the end ensure longevity. Crafted from wood and glue, this innovative design was created using Tinkercad and gears that can be generated and printed from woodgears.ca. The model may not match the picture exactly, as it is based on my made version. The handle is constructed with 3/4 inch hardwood, while all gears are made of birch plywood (approximately 1/4 inch). Shafts consist of 1/4 inch dowels, and the main support is a 1/2 inch dowel. The gear housing is made from 3/8 spruce plywood, though hardwood could provide a nicer appearance. Washers were used, but their necessity is debatable. Metal pins are only present through two outside gears and their shafts to prevent weakening the main shaft under load. Paste wax was applied to areas where wood moves against each other for smooth operation. Small round bits were created using a circle jig on a disc sander, with 1/4 inch dowel embedded in 3/4 inch MDF near the edge. Gear templates can be downloaded for free from woodgears.ca. The handle gears are cut at a 10-degree angle and have 18 or 9 teeth, while marshmallow end gears have 8 teeth. Marshmallows are mounted on skewers that friction fit into the rest of the assembly for easy replacement.
