Rotary Tool Mini Lathe Adapter

Rotary Tool Mini Lathe Adapter

This is an adapter, to mount a rotary tool on the compound rest of a mini lathe (such as 7x10, 7x12 etc small Chinese import lathes). It can easily be adapted to other lathes, using the referenced OnShape CAD file. Note: the clamp screws are metric, M4x20mm, and M4 nyloc nuts. The bolt to attach to the compound rest is M10 socket head x 35mm, with an M10 or 7/16" washer. It's in plastic, so it's useful for light milling, drilling, grinding. The tool axis is at the same height as the spindle axis on the mini lathe. I made this to mill a rectangular groove in plastic, to form an o-ring seat. Worked great for that, a job that would have been really difficult otherwise. I have a Goxawee rotary tool, essentially a Dremel knockoff. I sized the clamp for 1.95" body diameter where the clamp sits. If you have some other diameter on your tool, you can modify the design. The OnShape design link is: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/9e8e9321a4e895ef4c48d79d/w/94a6b073f49c1e4b8ff26572/e/eccae1b08df6dd3815b8aca6 If you are not a registered OnShape user, you will only be able to view the design. If you are a user, you can copy the design to your own workspace to modify it. I printed in ABS, but probably PETG or PLA would make a stiffer part. I used supports for the 10mm hole for the bolt that secures this adapter to the compound rest.
