Rotary Tool Fan for Dremel/Craftsman
thingiverse
This fan fits snugly onto the collection of a Dremel/Craftsmen 395 rotary tool, its clever design blowing air over the bit to clear dust from the cutting area and give you a clearer view. I took the original design apart and remixed it because I didn't like the exposed fan blades; so, I added a protective shroud around them. What's more, I was determined to come up with an optimal blade design that would move the most air possible, so I designed and tested 23 different ideas, then measured and charted their output. The top three designs are now available for download. There are three fan styles to choose from: two with a 25mm diameter, one with a smaller 20mm diameter. I added the smaller option because I found that the larger fans sometimes obstructed the bit too much when doing fine work. There's also a version without keying for rotary tools that don't have this feature. This fan is specifically designed for a 10.6mm diameter collet, but if your tool has a larger or smaller one, simply scale the part up or down to fit. It requires a friction fit to stay securely attached.
