Rotary Tool Accessories

A rotary tool becomes an indispensable tool in any model-based hobby. There are numerous high-quality units like Dremel available on the market, but for occasional use, the Drill Master 80-piece kit from Harbor Freight, often sold for $7, is largely sufficient. However, it lacks speed control and a compartment for accessories, prompting me to create my own solution. I also designed a holder that can be secured to the workbench with screws or "C" clamps, firmly holding the unit in place. Initially, I used a tie wrap to secure the unit, but modified the design to use a sliding component that clamps onto the tapered body. The design allows for either method of attachment. The accessory holder features compartments to store the three containers provided with the kit and 25 holes to house various tools. The speed control is based on components sourced from AliExpress for under $4. These connectors snap into the housing and are retained by the bottom, which is secured to the main enclosure with four #2 x 3/8" sheet metal screws. All connections are screw-type (no soldering required), and the motor and power supply units connect using original equipment connectors.
